Discover CHINJ

Our Mission

The mission of the Child Health Institute of New Jersey is to discover the causes and mechanisms of childhood diseases and to translate our research into prevention, treatment and cure to improve child health in New Jersey, the U.S. and the world.

CHINJ History

The Child Health Institute of New Jersey at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School was founded in the late 1990s with the generous support of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Johnson & Johnson. Our research, academic and clinical building was opened in 2005 as part of the children’s academic health campus in New Brunswick.

Our child-focused, research and clinical care campus includes the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Clinical Research Center, as well as the adjoining Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital of the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and the PSE&G Children’s Specialized Hospital. The Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in New Jersey and a leading center for pediatric cancers, is also nearby.
