William R. Downey, Jr.
William R. Downey Jr. is the Co-Chairperson of the Board of the Child Health Institute of NJ (CHINJ). He has served in that role since his election in May of 2023. Giving back to Rutgers is one of Bill’s drivers and those experiences have framed his work with CHINJ and its Board when he was elected to the Board in April 2021.
Scott A. Blow, JD/MBA
Scott Ainsworth Blow, JD/MBA, has been elected to the Board of the Child Health Institute of NJ (CHINJ), and he brings a wealth of experience from his extensive background in nonprofit leadership, business, and community development. His current board roles include serving on the Rutgers Business School Board of Advisors. Previous board roles include The Wardlaw Hartridge K-12 Independent School and Central Jersey CDC, a regional community development corporation.
Elizabeth Sheehan Garlatti
Elizabeth (Betsy) Garlatti is an Advisory Board member at the Rutgers University Child Health Institute of NJ since 2024. During her tenure as Executive Director at CHINJ in the early 2000’s, Betsy played a critical role in the development of the $72 million CHINJ building and the recruitment of its faculty leadership. She joins the Board now filled with excitement to build the resources and relationships to fuel the current and future research portfolio of CHINJ.
Jeffrey L. Gitterman
Jeff Gitterman is a Partner at Gitterman Wealth Management and the CEO of Gitterman Asset Management. Widely seen as a thought leader in the climate change and sustainable investing fields, he is the creator of the firm's SMART (Sustainability Metrics Applied to Risk Tolerance)® Investing Services, which offer climate-focused investing solutions to both individual investors and financial professionals.
Canaan F. Himmelbaum, Esq.
Canaan E. Himmelbaum, Esq. is a Board Member of the Child Health Institute of NJ (CHINJ). He has served in that role since his election in May of 2018. Canaan has been a driving force behind the collaboration between CHINJ and The Hudson Shea Foundation, as well as the Hudson Shea Stella Faith Research Fund
Debra Ann Lynch, PhD
Debra A Lynch, PhD is a Child Health Institute of NJ (CHINJ) board member. She has served in this role since her election in October 2024. Issues involving women and children have always been a passion of Dr. Lynch and CHINJ combines this interest with her other interest, research.
Michael E. Sneed, MBA
Michael E. Sneed, MBA, is a board member of the Child Health Institute of New Jersey (CHINJ) and has served in the role since 2024. He is Vice Chair of the board of Trustees at the Thomas Jefferson Health System and University and is a member of the Board of Directors of Wayfair, Inc and Kenvue, Inc. He also serves on the board of Trustees at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and WHYY Public Media.
