Biography

Canaan E. Himmelbaum, Esq. is a Board Member of the Child Health Institute of NJ (CHINJ). He has served in that role since his election in May of 2018. Canaan has been a driving force behind the collaboration between CHINJ and The Hudson Shea Foundation, as well as the Hudson Shea Stella Faith Research Fund - https://rwjms.rutgers.edu/documents/News/Hudson-Shea.pdf.

Himmelbaum has spent the better half of his professional career on clinical/corporate boards and has been deeply involved in the philanthropic arena.  Himmelbaum was introduced to CHINJ and Dr. Arnold Rabson in 2015, which is where the relationship between The Hudson Shea Foundation and CHINJ found its roots.  The Hudson Shea Foundation - https://www.thehudsonsheafoundation.com/ - has been a large donor and supporter of the CHINJ. 

Himmelbaum lost his daughter Stella Faith in 2010, due to premature labor complications. Himmelbaum has dedicated his life to childhood health and the study of preterm labor and stillbirth. During his time on the Board for CHINJ, Himmelbaum has guided many initiatives that are currently in clinical studies or in active research.

In addition to his Board position at CHINJ, Himmelbaum is an active Board Member of The Foundation for Education in Honduras (FEIH), which is actively building schools and an educational infrastructure in Honduras.  Himmelbaum was a founding member of FEIH.

Professional

Himmelbaum serves as a Managing Director of Consilio, LLC overseeing business development and consulting services. Himmelbaum leverages his years of experience in the food and beverage industry working in-house as Litigation and eDiscovery Counsel at Glanbia, PLC where he worked on large scale eDiscovery, litigation and M&A matters. He advises and consults with Clients that are part of Consilio’s Food & Beverage/Consumer Products and Antitrust Groups, as well as consults on planning and budgeting, internal investigations, class actions, recalls and information governance. 

Personal

Himmelbaum studied Criminal Justice at the University of Florida and earned his JD from Levin College of Law, at The University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.  Himmelbaum earned his JD in 2004 and is a Member of the Florida and Washington, DC Bar.  Himmelbaum lives in Westfield, NJ with his wife, Sarah; and they have two children, Aiden and Zoe.  Himmelbaum and his wife has residences in Bluffton, SC and Greensboro, Georgia where they enjoy the ocean and lake life.
